Our University community is made up of a wide range of people with diverse backgrounds and circumstances, which we value and regard as a great asset.
As part of our continued commitment to equity and inclusion, we strive to create an environment where everyone can reach their full potential and have a real opportunity to participate in and contribute to our activities.
## Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy
Our [EDI strategy](https://spotlight.leeds.ac.uk/EDI-strategy/index.html) is our vision for how the University will advance equity, diversity and inclusion for our community.
## Equity-related support, facilities and resources
We provide practical [equity-related support and information](http://www.equality.leeds.ac.uk/support/) for all staff working at the University.
This includes prayer and contemplation facilities on campus, a range of HR policies and [information to support staff who have a disability](https://equality.leeds.ac.uk/support-and-resources/disability-2/) or have caring responsibilities.
## Staff networks
The University has a number of networks staff can join. They bring together employees from across the University, providing peer support, networking opportunities and social activities.
Our [staff networks](https://equality.leeds.ac.uk/staff-networks/) include:
- [LGBT+ Staff Network](http://www.equality.leeds.ac.uk/for-staff/staff-networks/lgbt-network/)
- [The University Network for Minoritised Ethnic Staff (N4MES)](https://equality.leeds.ac.uk/staff-networks/network-for-minoritised-ethnic-staff-n4mes/)
- [Women at Leeds Network (WaLN)](http://www.equality.leeds.ac.uk/initiatives/leeds-gender-initiative/waln/)
- [Muslim Staff Network](https://equality.leeds.ac.uk/staff-networks/muslim-staff-network/)
- [Leeds Accessibility Staff Network (LASN): Disabilities, Chronic Conditions and Mental Health](https://equality.leeds.ac.uk/staff-networks/disability-accessibility-and-mental-health-staff-network/)
## Proactively addressing gender equality
Dealing with issues of under-representation, leadership, and the barriers to pursuing an academic career will benefit women and other groups faced with similar challenges and experiences.
The University is proud to hold an [Athena SWAN bronze award](http://www.equality.leeds.ac.uk/initiatives/leeds-gender-initiative/athena-swan/), which recognises our commitment to advancing women’s careers in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM).
