My role

I support mature undergraduate students from across the University of Leeds and all Lifelong Learning Centre students through workshops and one-to-one appointments. I teach first-year modules on our Business Management and Leadership BSc and our Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship.

Professional experience

My academic training is in Classics and History of Medicine. I obtained a PhD from Princeton University in 2016, and I have written a book called The Care of the Brain in Early Christianity. I am currently working on a book about the legacy of Classical antiquity in modern psychiatry. Most of my academic publications are available through my Academia page. \  \ I also write fiction and creative non-fiction. Recently, my work has appeared in the Michigan Quarterly Review, Mslexia, Foglifter Journal and Shirley Magazine. My work blends research-based material and personal narrative to explore themes such as queerness, mental health, and embodiment.

Before coming to the University of Leeds I taught at the University of Sheffield, the University of Texas at San Antonio, the University of Southern California, and Princeton University (including the Princeton University Writing Center), as well as at three state-run prisons in New Jersey through the prison education consortium NJ-STE.
