Module selection and changes

You apply for modules after you have submitted your initial application and have been accepted to study at the University of Leeds.

Step 1: selecting your modules

If you are accepted onto the Study Abroad programme, you will receive instructions on how to select your modules in your acceptance email from May onwards.

You can also watch our guidance video to help you with the module enrolment process. Study Abroad students use a different module enrolment process to other students.

We will then share these choices with the academic schools for approval. You will find out the outcome by email, approximately six to eight weeks after submitting your choices.

Step 2: receiving your Module Enrolment Report

Codes in your report

When viewing your Module Enrolment Report, there are three codes which relate to three possible outcomes:

Temporarily Enrolled (EH)

This means that the teaching school is still reviewing your application for this module and a final decision has not yet been made. There are some cases where it is not possible to make a decision until closer to the start of teaching. If you or your home university need a decision urgently, contact the teaching school or department directly stating the date that you need a decision by.

Registered (RE or RW)

This means that the teaching school or department has accepted you onto this module. You have been fully enrolled on it and you are guaranteed a place in the class. You do not need to do anything further to take this module.

Drop-Deleted (DD)

Unfortunately, this means that the teaching school or department has not accepted you onto this module and you have not been enrolled in it. You may have received a comment on your Module Enrolment Report to explain the reason why you have not been accepted onto this module, but if not you can contact the teaching school for clarification.

If a module you applied for is not appearing on your Module Enrolment Report, then it is likely that this module was full at the time you applied, has been discontinued or the teaching school has not approved your choice. If you would like clarification on this, please contact the Study Abroad Coordinator in the relevant teaching school.

Some schools operate waiting lists so we recommend that you contact the Study Abroad Coordinator in the relevant teaching school to ask if you can be added to the waiting list.

Step 3: Changing your modules

To add, drop, or change a module at this stage, first use the module catalogue to see what’s available, then email the Study Abroad Coordinator in the relevant school. Your email should include:

Step 4: Checking your module enrolment

Online registration will open 60 days before the start of your programme and after you have registered, you will gain access to Minerva, the Student portal. From Minerva, you have the option to view the modules you are enrolled on.

Your parent school

You can still enrol on modules taught by other teaching schools, even if they are not your parent school. In some circumstances, your parent school can be changed to the one where you are taking the majority of your modules. If you wish to discuss this, please contact the Study Abroad team at studyabroad@leeds.ac.uk.
