Our global research
A team from Leeds School of Dentistry is pulling together an international collaborative effort with universities in Brazil and Egypt to tackle antimicrobial resistance. - ### Understanding the vegetation of the dry tropics
A project that spans continents is developing the first systematic network of observation plots in the dry tropics to understand how vegetation in these environments is changing due to climate change. - ### Creating a drought to predict the Amazon 'tipping point'
An international research project in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest is underway, exploring the effects of extreme drought to identify how to protect forests in the face of climate change. - ### Turning a pest into an opportunity
Research in Uganda is exploring how an invasive species of water plant can be turned into biogas for cooking. - ### Forging collaboration through snow and ice
Next year, a team of scientists from Nepal, the UK and Norway will head to the notorious Khumbu Icefall, to drill into and take the temperature of the glacier at over 6000m altitude. - ### Corals, communities and climate change
An international research project is examining which coral reefs are proving more resilient than others to the effects of a warmer and more acidic ocean caused by climate change. - ### Keyhole surgery technology and training to reduce inequalities in healthcare
A team of surgeons, engineers and designers have designed a technology to make it easier to carry out abdominal keyhole surgery in remote and low resource locations.
