Not sure if university’s for you? Try JumpStart, a free short course for adult learners.

JumpStart offers a fun and immersive experience of being within a higher education setting. It’s designed to fit around your other commitments and build the skills, understanding and confidence in yourself as a learner that you’ll need for university.

The course is delivered in-person on the University of Leeds campus.

On the course you’ll have the chance to:

JumpStart runs twice a year and is held every Wednesday evening from 5–7pm for a total of eight weeks, with two additional daytime sessions on Saturdays.

There’s also an optional maths session held immediately before each Wednesday session from 4–5pm.

The February 2026 cohort has now reached full capacity and we are no longer accepting applications.

Registration will reopen in August 2026 for the October cohort.
