My role

As Foundation Years Transition Support Officer I support Foundation Year students at the Lifelong Learning Centre (LLC) to feel prepared for the transition to their progression school/faculty at the end of their time with us.

I work with teaching teams in the LLC and faculty staff to develop transition events and initiatives for students to gain insight into their progression school/faculty. This can involve speaking with staff and students in the faculty, as well as visiting physical faculty facilities and spaces. Alongside this, I develop resources to provide key information about the transition period and a list of contacts in their progression school/faculty, helping students to know what to expect and who they can reach out to.

As well as student-facing activities, I work with staff across the University to improve systems and processes related to the transition period. This work ensures students receive timely and relevant updates as they progress, and have appropriate support as they settle into their new academic setting.
