Funding for students with dependents

If you have children or adults who depend on you, you may be able to access government funding to provide extra financial support while you study.

Students with dependent children

You can get individual advice from the Student Advice Centre in Leeds University Union about whether financial support is available.

Our Lifelong Learning Centre has information about the practical help we offer, including childcare, accommodation for families, and campus facilities for students with young children.

If you are studying an undergraduate full-time course, you could be eligible for the Childcare Grant and Parents’ Learning Allowance.

Students with adult dependants

If you are studying an undergraduate full-time course, you may be able to apply for the Adult Dependants' Grant. You cannot apply for the Adult Dependents’ Grant if you are taking out a postgraduate loan.
