Artificial intelligence (AI) and other digital technologies, such as Internet of Things (IoT) and digital twins, are strong drivers of innovation across organizations of all types and sizes. For students who want to understand how such digital innovation affects and changes society, Innovation Management’s AI and Digital Innovation track offers practical, in-depth experience.
What you will learn as part of the AI and Digital Innovation track
Think of smart cities, predictive policing systems, navigation systems, chatbots and digital assistants. These are all examples of AI and other digital technologies that have already become integral to our daily lives. What does this mean from both a technological and ethical perspective? In AI and Digital Innovation, students learn how to understand and consider human and societal needs and values – such as explainability, transparency and sustainability – as part of AI systems design and digital innovation. The track’s multidisciplinary approach enables students to design and develop sustainable digital solutions using responsible AI and other digital technologies in order to support organizations and society on innovation with data. This helps to put our students at the forefront of sustainable digital innovation, a domain set to grow even further in size and importance.
When to choose the AI and Digital Innovation track
The AI and Digital Innovation track targets students who wish to gain hands-on, technical and state-of-the-art insights into the design of AI systems. This will allow them to translate organizational and societal needs into digital innovations and digital (AI) system designs that are both sustainable and responsible. Students will also come to understand the impact of digital innovation and AI on work processes and will therefore be able to design systems and processes that achieve an optimal fit between these emerging technologies and the workplace.
The track is open to all interested students.
How you will learn
TU/e is located in Brainport – Europe’s most innovative technology region – and therefore presents opportunities for students to get firsthand insights from regional technology commercialization experts via challenges, site visits and guest lectures. To ensure that students feel supported throughout their master’s program and make well-informed decisions, the Innovation Management master’s program also makes use of a mentor system. An experienced lecturer and researcher will guide you in making choices on elective courses, studying abroad and the graduation project. This region, program and mentoring system all enable students to tailor their education to their skills and interests with a view to their long-term future.
