For international students

Tuition fees, scholarships & living expenses

Studying abroad is an incredible experience, and understanding the financial aspects is a key part of your preparation. Please note: the information on this page is specifically for international students with an international diploma/degree. Here you will find a breakdown of the estimated costs for your studies and life in Eindhoven, as well as information on the scholarships and funding opportunities available to international students.

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees for international students in the Netherlands are divided into two main categories. The fee you pay depends on your nationality.

EU/EEA Students: If you are a national of an EU or EEA country, you will generally pay the statutory tuition fee, which is set by the Dutch government. The statutory fee is a reduced tuition rate intended for students who are beginning their first Bachelor's or Master's degree in the Netherlands. If you are an EU/EEA student who has already completed a degree at a Dutch university, you are no longer considered a "first-time" student for this purpose. Therefore, you will be required to pay the institutional tuition fee for any subsequent degree programs.

Non-EU/EEA Students: If you are a national of a non-EU/EEA country, you will pay the institutional tuition fee, which is higher than the statutory fee.

Scholarships & funding

Eindhoven University of Technology is committed to supporting talented and motivated international master students. A number of scholarships and grants are available to help you finance your studies.

TU/e Scholarships: TU/e offers its own scholarship program for excellent students in selected master’s programmes, covering part of the study costs.

External Scholarships: Many countries and external organizations offer grants and scholarships to their citizens who wish to study in the Netherlands. We recommend you explore these options by checking with your country's Ministry of Education and organizations like Nuffic.

Be aware of application deadlines, as they are often earlier than the application deadline for the study program itself.

Dutch Government Funding for International Students

International students in the Netherlands may be eligible for financial aid from the Dutch government through DUO (Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs).
