## "I DREAM OF EARLY DETECTION OF DISEASES SUCH AS CANCER"
In the fifth year of high school I knew: I want to go to TU/e. But which program? I like physics, but also biology and chemistry. During an open day I discovered Biomedical Engineering; it covers all three! That day I attended a lecture for prospective students about fluorescent proteins. By making proteins light up, you can detect diseases and help a lot of people. I really enjoy these kinds of experiments. For example, we also learned how to measure the elasticity of a blood vessel: first practicing on a silicone tube, then taking measurements on a carotid artery from a slaughtered pig. I have only just started my first year, but I am happy that each year we can choose a few elective courses. There is so much interesting material here.
