RESEARCH PROFILE

Loai Abdelmohsen's research experience is in the field of polymer synthesis, nanoparticles characterization, copolymer self-assembly and shape transformations, and the design of micro and nanomotors. He is a member of the Bio-organic chemistry research group at Eindhoven University of Technology where the objective is to construct smart compartments with life-like features along two main lines of research: nanomedicine and artificial cells and organelles.

My ambition is to engineer functional dynamic systems to mimic the structural and systemic complexity of biology”

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Loai is assistant professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Netherlands. Loai undertook a Master’s program at Radboud University (the Netherlands), which was completed in 2013. In the same university, he conducted his PhD in the Bio-Organic Chemistry group. During his PhD he gained an active interest in the utilization of copolymers for supramolecular assembly and the subsequent integration of functional properties – such as motility. In 2017 he was appointed as assistant professor at TU/e – leading a team of PhD students and Postdocs. His research is focused on creating supramolecular dynamic systems and motile machines with the capacity of autonomous motion.
