While studying Industrial Engineering, you will follow mathematics and basic engineering courses in addition to Industrial Engineering courses. From your second year, you will be able to broaden or deepen your knowledge with electives. You will also take courses that will give you a solid foundation as an engineer.

With the electives, you determine the direction of your studies. You can choose from courses within the Industrial Engineering program for extra depth. You can also choose to broaden your studies and take courses from other programs of the department or other programs at TU/e. There must be a connection between the courses. The package of courses that you choose must meet the requirements regarding the number of introductory, deepening and advanced courses.

To help you meet all of the requirements and make a good plan, you can make use of the PlanApp and various information sessions. Of course, the academic advisors are also available to you with personal advice.

For more information, visit the online education guide: https://studiegids.tue.nl/opleidingen/bachelor-college/majors/industrial-engineering

To give you an idea of what is possible, here are some examples.

Examples of deepening courses within Industrial Engineering

Examples of broadening courses within the department:

You can also take broadening courses at other programs within TU/e, such as at the Department of the Built Environment and the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Depending on how you choose to fill out your elective space, you can start a follow-on master’s program without barriers or conditions after completing your bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. The Operations Management Logistics (OML) and Innovation Management (IM) master’s programs can be started directly after completing your Industrial Engineering bachelor’s degree.
