Direct-access students from the Bachelor's Program of Mechanical Engineering can start this master's program every month of the year. All other students can only apply for a September start.
The Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering at TU/e offers you the freedom to specialize while building a strong foundation in advanced engineering principles. This two-year program consists of seven specializations (research groups), organized into three divisions. If you wish to specialize even further, you can choose one of the optional tracks. Before you start, you’ll select your preferred division and be paired with a mentor from one of these specializations (research groups) to guide your journey.
The research groups are presented in the slider below.
Program
The Master's Program of Mechanical Engineering is two years. After being allocated to your specialization, you design your own program together with your mentor. Most students follow all courses in their first year, so they can do an internship and work on their graduation project in their second year. But also here you have the freedom to pave your own path.
| Year 1 | Core program | 20 ECTS |
| Specialization courses | 20 ECTS | |
| Professional skills | 5 ECTS | |
| Electives | 15 ECTS | |
| Year 2 | Internship | 15 ECTS |
| Graduation project | 45 ECTS |
What makes our curriculum unique?
The Mechanical Engineering (ME) Master’s program at TU/e gives you the knowledge, skills, and freedom to shape the future of mechanical engineering. Our curriculum is designed to be flexible and hands-on, so you can tailor your journey to your passions and career goals.
Year 1
In the first year of the Master’s in Mechanical Engineering at TU/e, you will build a solid foundation through a combination of core courses, specialisation modules, and professional skills training. The program is designed to offer both structure and flexibility, allowing you to tailor your learning to your interests while gaining essential knowledge across key mechanical engineering domains.
Year 2
In the second year of the Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, you’ll focus on applying your knowledge through hands-on experience and independent research. Together with your mentor, you’ll design a personalized study plan that typically includes an internship and a graduation project, though you’ll still have the flexibility to shape your own path.
The Mechanical Engineering Pre-Master's Program
The Mechanical Engineering pre-Master’s program is intended for students who have not received direct admission to the Mechanical Engineering Master’s program.
