Studying in the Netherlands
Thinking about studying abroad? The Netherlands might just be what you’re looking for. It’s international, innovative, and a place where students are encouraged to think for themselves. Here’s what makes it different and why many students, including those at TU/e, choose to study here.
Experience the Netherlands as a student
-
Truly international study environment
With over 2,100 English-taught programs and students from more than 160 countries, the Netherlands is one of Europe’s most international study destinations. At TU/e, 37% of our students come from outside the Netherlands bringing a wide range of perspectives that enrich both learning and campus life. - ### A culture of curiosity
Dutch universities are known for their interactive and student-driven approach. Learning here is an active process—you’re encouraged to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and explore new ideas. At TU/e, this comes to life through Challenge-Based Learning: a way of working where students team up to tackle real-world challenges, often in collaboration with researchers or industry partners. - ### Heart of innovation
The Netherlands is a global leader in high-tech systems, sustainable energy, smart mobility, and artificial intelligence. As an engineering student, you’ll find yourself at the heart of innovation—in Brainport Eindhoven, one of Europe’s most advanced and dynamic tech regions. - ### High quality, fair cost
The Netherlands combines high-quality education with relatively low costs. Compared to places like the UK or US, tuition and living expenses are more manageable. Scholarships are also available for both EU and non-EU students, making it a realistic option for many. - ### English spoken everywhere
The Netherlands stands out as a non-English-speaking country where nearly everyone speaks English. This makes it easy for international students to live, study, and feel at home. - ### Explore Europe
The Netherlands is ideally located for travel, offering easy access to the rest of Europe. From Eindhoven, you can reach cities like Paris, Berlin, or Brussels in just a few hours, perfect for weekend trips or quick breaks between your studies.
