Semiconductors – or chips – are everywhere, enabling the current information society as we know it. The technology keeps growing in performance and use, as shown by Moore’s Law, and will play an ever-increasing role in our lives in the future. Chips are essential in computing, communication and many sensor applications and thus everywhere around us.\ In this program, you will learn how chips work, how they are fabricated and how they are designed, to make processors or transceivers, for example. You will also learn about the various types of chips, such as analog, mixed-signal and digital chips, photonic integrated circuits, and power electronics, and how these are use in applications. The Brainport Eindhoven region houses a world-class semiconductor industry, ensuring a relevant program, for you and your career.\ \ The Semiconductor Devices and Technology program is an optional track within the Master Electrical Engineering. Within this track, you can specialize in various different research areas, namely:
- Analog and mixed-signal electronics, such as data converters and RF transceivers;
- Digital electronics, such as computer architectures and neuromorphic processors;
- Integrated photonics, with applications in, a.o., communications and sensors.
The Semiconductor Devices and Technology program is in essence the Master’s program of Electrical Engineering with your specialization focused on the research groups within the Semiconductor domain.
