TU/e is one of the global frontrunners in academic collaboration with industry. This is unsurprising as the university was founded in 1956 at the request of the region’s high-tech industry. The university has been the beating heart of the innovation ecosystem of the Brainport Eindhoven region for many decades. We collaborate intensively with high-tech companies, but also with top clinical hospitals and other organizations. In doing so, we not only ensure societal impact and knowledge transfer but also contribute to economic growth and the creation of opportunities for students and for science. Of course, this all takes place according to well-defined ground rules which ensure that the interests of all parties are safeguarded.

TU/e’s collaboration with industry is highly important in a variety of ways. The most obvious added value of collaboration is in the area of valorization, one of the three core tasks of Dutch universities. Valorization means ensuring the utilization of the knowledge generated by the university. But collaboration is also of great value for research and education.
