"I’m improving the energy storage devices of the future"

I’m synthesizing porous electrodes for use in flow batteries. To prevent energy losses in the battery, the electrode structure and pore size need to be optimal. We’re working with materials from other fields to solve problems in ours, an approach I really like. The project has interesting electrochemistry and a motivated group.

I chose TU/e because it’s a renowned university with English-language programs and excellent connections with industry. Since industry and academia have different cultures and goals, master’s degree students need to experience both to make an informed decision on which path to pursue. Eindhoven is great, a compact city with friendly people. And the program is challenging and very interesting.

In the future, I’d like to go into industry, working on projects and creating something. But first, I’m looking to do an internship in the Netherlands.
