RESEARCH PROFILE

Sha Lou has previously worked as a postdoc researcher for a joint project between the group of Professor Carlijn Bouten in the department of Biomedical Engineering, and the group of Professor Jaap den ToonderMicrosystems in the department of Mechanical Engineering, at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). This research has ended with a scientific publication as “A Cell Pre-Wrapping Seeding Technique for Hydrogel-Based Tubular Organ-On-A-Chip”.

After the postdoctoral research, Lou has been working on transferring her academic skills and experience to support research and education. At this moment, Lou holds the position of the coordinator of 4TU Center for Energy (4TU.Energy). Lou is working hard on research and education support and pushing forward the Science & Technology with more collaboration and valorization.

By applying my strengths in connection and coordination, together with my understanding of where support is urgently needed, I believe I can build up a scientific community with more collaboration and co-creation!

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Sha Lou got her master degree in China in Peking Union Medical College, major in biotechnology. Lou has worked one year as researcher in Chinese Academy of Sciences, before she started her PhD. In 2017, Lou received her PhD degree from Leiden University in the Netherlands, major in life science – medicine; during her PhD time she has won the “Young Investigator” grant from an international conference and the “Best poster prize” from another conference presentation.

Between January 2019 and January 2022, she worked as a postdoc researcher at TU/e for the joint project of “Kidney-on-chip” combing biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering skills. Since September 2022, Lou has worked as the research support staff (coordinator 4TU.Energy) located at TU/e.
