When you’re not busy studying or socialising, you’ll need somewhere to call home. Sheffield has a range of options within walking distance of the International College.

Student accommodation in Sheffield

Many people find they meet lifelong friends when living in student accommodation. It is a part of student life and a big step in finding your independence after living at home.

While studying a pathway programme at the International College, you can choose to live in University-managed accommodation at St Vincent's Place or have the option to arrange your own private accommodation.

St Vincent's Place

Located in the heart of the city, near the main campus and next to the International College, St Vincent’s Place is our University-managed development which incorporates a beautifully renovated church. The church is now a place to socialise, offering a café, cinema room, games and a shared kitchen. There is also a Residence Life Mentor to help you settle into life in the UK through organised social activities and student support.

You'll be placed with students of a similar age group where possible and benefit from specific services available to support younger residents, as well as quick and easy access to the College team.

Booking your accommodation

It’s important to arrange your accommodation before arriving in the UK. This helps ensure a smooth immigration and registration process, and gives you peace of mind knowing where you’ll stay.

If you are under 18, you must arrange accommodation through the College. Certain accommodation types may be reserved specifically for under-18s.

You’ll receive an invitation to apply for accommodation once you confirm your place. If you request accommodation during your application, the Central Student Support team will provide up-to-date details on available options, fees, and next steps.

We recommend applying as early as possible. While accommodation is still available, it is allocated on a first come, first served basis. Applying early increases your chances of securing your preferred room type.

Accommodation Commitment

To provide assurance of accommodation availability, we have introduced an Accommodation Commitment so students can feel confident about securing a room.

To receive a room offer, follow these simple steps:

1. Confirm Your Offer

Submit your Acceptance Form and make any required payments by 25 July 2025 (5pm UK time).

2. Apply for Accommodation

Use the instructions from your Centre or College to apply by 4 August 2025 (5pm UK time).

3. Secure Your Room

Once you receive a room offer, complete the application process within the given deadlines to confirm your booking.

Important Information:

Look out for fraud

Scammers may specifically target international students so it is important to be able to recognise common signs of fraudulent activity and know what to do if you come across it. Let us know at fraudreporting@studygroup.com if you have any concerns about fraudulent activity when dealing with a private accommodation provider so that we can help to protect you and other international students in case they are targeted in the same way.

Arranging your own private accommodation

If you prefer to arrange your own accommodation, there are private rooms, flats, and houses available in and around Sheffield. You have two options:

Arrange independently

Please also refer to our 'Look out for fraud' section, which highlights the potential risks of booking accommodation privately.

Born in Russia. Made in Sheffield.

My first friends here were people from other rooms in my block. On the first day we all were a bit shy because we had just moved in and were missing our homes. But after a few days we became really close; we spent time together, we went to Meadowhall to play some games and after a few weeks we became really close friends and we can share our thoughts, share our problems and do things together.
