UZH Takes a Comprehensive Approach

As a signatory of the Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), the University of Zurich explicitly promotes a comprehensive view on evaluating researchers without using journal-based metrics, such as Journal Impact Factors.

Involvement in Projects

The University of Zurich is involved in projects dealing with the responsible use of metrics in research and the integration of open science practices in the evaluation of scientific achievements and research proposals:

SRM-RM: Swiss Research Monitoring and the Responsible Use of Metrics

"Research monitoring" refers to the systematic procurement and scientific processing of information about the research system in Switzerland and its environment, dedicated to the responsible, reflective and critical use of metrics. The scientific project attempts to fill a gap in this area.
