## [How to install Akamai Zero trust Client VPN (Guardicore Platform Agent)](#install)
Follow these steps to install and authenticate with Akamai EAA for secure access to UTS applications.

**Step 1: Delete old AKAMAI apps installed on your device**
If you have any old AKAMAI apps installed on your device, delete them first. On Windows or Mac, you can type “**Guardicore Platform Agent**” in the Start menu (Windows) or spotlight search (Mac) to locate it.
Before proceeding, make sure to remove any previous versions of Akamai software:
Uninstall the following (if present):
- Akamai EAA Legacy Client
- Akamai Zero Trust Client (Guardicore Platform Agent)

*This helps avoid conflicts with the latest version.*
**Step 2: Access the UTS Secure Access Portal**
1. Open your web browser.
2. Go to <https://studyaccess.uts.edu.au>
**Step 3: Sign in with your UTS Email**
On the login screen, enter your **UTS Email ID**
- For Staff: - firstname.lastname@uts.edu.au.
- For Students: - firstname.lastname@student.uts.edu.au
Follow the on-screen prompts to authenticate your identity.
**Step 4: Download the Akamai Zero Trust Client**
1. Once signed in, locate the **Download Client** button at the top right corner and click on it.
2. Select your device type under **Akamai Zero Trust Client** and click on download icon.
3. Run the downloaded installer.
**Step 5: Launch and Enrol the Client**
When the installation is complete, the **Akamai Zero Trust Client** should launch automatically.
**If Akamai does not open automatically:**
- **On Windows:** Open the Guardicore Platform Agent from the Start menu.
- **On Mac:** Open the Guardicore Platform Agent from the Applications folder or Spotlight search
On Ubuntu, open the application from your system menu.
You should see the welcome screen asking for **IdP**, **Activation Code**, or **email**.
- If the welcome screen does not appear, click “**ENROLL CLIENT**” to bring it up.
Enter [studyaccess.uts.edu.au](https://www.uts.edu.au/EPiServer/CMS/studyaccess.uts.edu.au) into the prompt, then click **Apply**.
**Step 6: Authenticate via Okta**
- After clicking **Apply**, your browser will open the Okta login page.
- Sign in using your **UTS email** and **password**.
- Complete the **Multi-Factor Authentication** **(MFA)** if prompted.
**Step 7: Confirm Successful Enrollment**
Once authentication is successful:
- You’ll be redirected back to the **Akamai Zero Trust Client**.
- The client will now show a **connected** or **active** status with access to UTS applications.
## [Re-Authenticating with Akamai Zero Trust Client (Guardicore Platform Agent)](#reauthenticating)
If you turn off or restart your system, you may need to re-authenticate with the **Akamai Zero Trust Client**. By default, the client will automatically open your default browser and prompt you to authenticate through **Okta**. However, the process can vary depending on your operating system.
Follow these steps to re-authenticate:
**Step 1: Open the Akamai Zero Trust Client**
Launch the **Akamai EAA Client** (also known as **Guardicore Platform Agent**) from your system.
- On **Windows**, search for Guardicore in your Start Menu.
- On **macOS**, open the **Applications** folder and launch the Guardicore agent.
- On **Ubuntu**, open the application from your system menu and search for Akamai or Guardicore.
**Step 2: Click Authenticate Now**
1. Once the Akamai client is open, you will see the **Authenticate Now** button.
2. Click **Authenticate Now** to begin re-authentication.
- On Windows – Bottom right corner near the time
- On Mac – Upper right corner near the time
- On Ubuntu – Top bar or system tray (depending on the desktop environment)
**Step 3: Complete Authentication via Okta**
- After clicking Authenticate Now, your default web browser will open the Okta login page.
- Sign in with your UTS email (e.g., firstname.lastname@uts.edu.au)
- Complete any Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) steps if prompted.
**Step 4: Confirmation of Successful Authentication**
- Once authenticated, the Akamai Zero Trust Client should show you as connected or authenticated.
- You can now access UTS resources securely.
