## Learn the laws that govern our universe
Our world and everything in it are created by two things alone: matter and energy. Physicists work to study these elements, and those they create, to better understand our universe and our place within it.
At UTS, our Physics and Quantum Technologies courses will see you examine fundamental phenomena, forces and particles, with an emphasis on materials and fabrication. Plus, with the opportunity to pursue exciting sub-majors, you’ll graduate ready to develop transformational theories and technologies that could change the way we live.

## Study options
## Why study Physics and Quantum Technologies?
Study the fundamental phenomena, forces and particles that make up the universe. With an emphasis on materials and fabrication, our Physics courses will prepare you to develop transformational theories and technologies that could change the way we live.
You can combine specialist study in quantum and computational physics, advanced materials and more with a sub-major in Chemistry, Engineering or Maths.
The Quantum Technologies major is a carefully chosen cohort benefitting from highly personalised learning opportunities, face time with both research and teaching staff and hands-on experience with quantum devices and optical systems.
## Get inspired
Just like the secrets of the universe, your career options will be vast — work as a physicist, materials or nanofabrication engineer or a data or research scientist, among others.

This is a rapidly growing field internationally, but also in Australia because we have a number of high tech start UPS based around universities which are really looking to hire graduates with these very Advanced Research and technical skills.
\

- ### What ATAR or entry requirements do I need to achieve to get into the Bachelor of Advanced Science course in Quantum Technology at UTS?
Entry is based on your selection rank, which can include ATAR, adjustment points, or other recognised pathways. Students without an ATAR can visit the [Admissions Pathways](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/admissions-entry/pathways) website for more information. \
\
- ### What subjects should I study in Year 11 and Year 12 to study Physics and Quantum Technology?
We recommend Mathematics Advanced (or Extension) and at least one Science subject, such as Physics or Chemistry. These provide a strong foundation for first-year subjects. If you haven't studied them, UTS offers bridging courses before session starts.
- ### Are there any bridging courses for students who haven't studied enough Science subjects at school?
Yes, UTS offers short bridging courses in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry for students who need to refresh or build core knowledge before starting university. These are normally held in January and July. [Explore UTS bridging courses](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/short-courses-microcredentials/bridging-courses-science-mathematics#:~:text=Your%20pathway%20to%20university%20success,Date:%2027%20January).
- ### Can I transfer from another university or TAFE in to a UTS Physics & Quantum Technology course and will I receive credits for my previous studies?
Yes, you can apply to UTS from another institution, and once admitted, apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL) for subjects already completed. Provide official transcripts and subject outlines with your application so UTS can assess your eligibility. [Learn about recognition of prior learning](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/admissions-entry/recognition-of-prior-learning/science).
- ### What career opportunities can I pursue after studying Physics & Quantum Technology?
Studying Physics and Quantum Technology at UTS provides a solid foundation of technical expertise to support career longevity in a shifting job market. You can work as a physicist, quantum hardware engineer, quantum computing specialist, nanofabrication engineer, photonics specialist, data scientist, quantum software developer, technology consultant, or quantitative analyst.
