If you have received an offer for an online postgraduate course and wish to delay your commencement, you may be eligible to defer and start your studies later.
Eligibility
You can defer your course offer
- If your offer is to study an online postgraduate course commencing in sessions 1 to 5.
- If you intend to defer to a session within the same intake year.
You cannot defer
- If you have been made an offer to the:
- Graduate Certificate in Marketing and Technology
- Graduate Certificate in Digital Marketing and Technology
- Graduate Certificate in Child and Family Health
- Graduate Diploma in Psychology (Advanced)
- If you are an international student. If you wish to defer your study to a future session, reapply to UTS for your chosen study period.
- If you intend to defer your studies to the following year. If so, simply reapply to UTS when you are ready to commence your studies.
Note: If you are a current UTS student and completed at least one subject, and wish to take a break from your studies, you can apply for Leave of Absence.
When is the last day to defer?
The last day to defer your online postgraduate offer is the session commencement date.

- Defer your offer via My Student Admin.
- We’ll send you an email confirming your deferred offer after the session commences (by the end of week 2).
How do I defer?

| Accepted an offer but not enrolled in subjects | Submit an ASK UTS online enquiry. |
| Accepted an offer and enrolled in subjects | Submit an ASK UTS online enquiry. In submitting a request to defer your offer, you will be withdrawn from any enrolled subjects. |
I deferred my offer but now want to start earlier
If you have deferred your offer but have changed your mind and now wish to start your studies in the session you originally received an offer for, or in an earlier session than the one you deferred to, please submit an ASK UTS online enquiry.
The last day to cancel your deferral is the Monday prior to session commencement.
I received an offer but now want to start earlier
If you have received an offer and now wish to begin your studies in an earlier session than the one stated in your offer, please submit an ASK UTS online enquiry.
The last day to submit this request is the Monday before the session you wish to start in.
