Designed as a transdisciplinary degree, the BCII brings together students from a wide range of fields to develop advanced skills in critical and creative thinking, innovation, complexity, collaboration, entrepreneurship, and future scenario planning. From day one, you’ll work on real-world challenges alongside industry partners, applying high-level conceptual thinking and practical problem-solving across diverse professional contexts. This unique approach boosts your employability and prepares you for leadership roles in an ever-changing world.

  The knowledge and skills developed in the Bachelor of Communication (Strategic Communication) are designed to produce effective, ethical and qualified communication professionals and are transferable to a range of work environments and. Students produce course work that provides them with an array of material for a portfolio to show potential employers.

  By focusing on the high-level conceptual thinking and problem-solving practices that lead to the development of innovative, creative and entrepreneurial outcomes, students of the combined degree also gain leading edge capabilities that are highly valued in the globalised world, including dealing with critical and creative thinking, invention, complexity, innovation, future scenario building and entrepreneurship, and the ability to work on their own across disciplines. These creative intelligence competencies enable graduates to navigate a rapidly changing world.

  If you find yourself rapt by the world of innovation – you can pair your core degree with a [Diploma in Innovation](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/transdisciplinary-innovation), graduating with two qualifications in the same timeframe.

  In both instances, you’ll work on a real-world challenge presented by an [industry partner](https://www.uts.edu.au/about/faculties/transdisciplinary-school/partnerships/how-get-involved/project-based-engagements/industry-innovation-project) organisation – partners who often create career pathways for our graduates.

- ### Course duration

  The course is offered on a four-year, full-time basis.
- ### Admission requirements

  Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level.

  Admission to the combined degree is on merit according to the admissions policy for the Bachelor of Communication in Public Relations and Advertising ([C10363](https://coursehandbook.uts.edu.au/course/current/c10363)).

  Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.

  IELTS Academic: overall 6.5, writing 6.0
  TOEFL iBT: overall 79, writing 21
  UTS College AE5: Pass
  Pearson PTE: overall 58, writing 50
  Cambridge C1A/C2P: overall 176, writing 169
- ### Domestic course fees

  **2026 Indicative tuition fees for government-supported domestic students**

  All offers for domestic undergraduate students are for [Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP)](https://www.uts.edu.au/current-students/managing-your-course/fees-and-payment/domestic-student-tuition-fees/commonwealth-supported).This means the Australian Government contributes to your education costs, and you pay the remaining tuition fees, known as the [student contribution](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/admissions-entry/fees-costs/commonwealth-supported).
