BCII (Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and  Innovation) prepares you to work in what’s called a transdisciplinary environment. And it  basically means the coming together of different disciplines to create something new. You have  to put aside your differences, trust the others in your group to solve a problem in a really  effective way that may not have been done before. We’ve come out of this degree  with a viable business model, a strategy to execute, and we've really  been able to apply it to a real world scenario. It's the first time where we've been  completely self-led in everything that we've done. We’ve learned how to independently  follow through the innovation journey.

What really attracted me to becoming part of  the Diploma in Innovation was the opportunity to actually be part of something different. What  this course is, is a really good, in-depth kind of workshop experience. I love the way that they've  kind of made this course different to your tutes, different to your lectures. We're told to  come up with any question and be creative with anything and everything. With  just bouncing ideas off each other, we get a lot more opportunities for growth. We've  met a bunch of people, we've become super close in the intensive block mode and we were brainstorming  a bunch of different things and that really got us on the path to think that everyone can make a  difference and we can actually all impact change. I would definitely do this course to learn all  of the different transferable skills that you can definitely take into the workplace. And  we've grown together. We're all different years as well. So like we're just learning  off each other and how we're thinking. We're giving advice. We're taking advice. It's been  super insightful to collaborate with students across multiple disciplines. The coordinators  and the tutors made it more engaging for us and it's so much more interesting than a  standard subject. Now I would say it's a really great opportunity to come here and  study here. I'd 10 out of 10 recommend.

## Unlocking agtech innovation transcript

I grew up in a family with deep farming roots in Aceh, Indonesia a beautiful, resource-rich province shaped by resilience in the face of devastating conflict and natural disasters. From math to art to sport, I was endlessly curious about the world. But one question never left me: how can I give back to communities like the one I came from? That question led me here - to Sydney, and the University of Technology Sydney. I chose the Transdiscplinary School because it encourages us to challenge traditional thinking and imagine new futures. At UTS, I’m not just doing a PhD - I’m part of a community that believes research should make a real difference. My work is about supporting AgTech stakeholders and small farming communities, the people producing nearly a third of the world’s food. AgTech is designing technology that fits real-life needs – creating solutions with farmers, not just for them. It's about creating change that lasts with access to relevant innovations, entrepreneurial pathways, and more sustainable livelihoods. But more than that - being a mum to a young daughter while doing this research gives it even more meaning for me. I want her to grow up knowing that women can lead, build, and reimagine a better future. At UTS, you’re never working alone. Thanks to a grant from DFAT Australia-Indonesia Institute, I’ve worked with local partners across four provinces in Indonesia - designing innovative farming practices that have the power to protect our environment for future generations. This work is already creating change, like supporting women farmers to move from wood-fired cooking to cleaner, safer technologies, and turning everyday farm waste into natural fertiliser that can be sold. The support from my supervisors, global partnerships, and networking opportunities - they’ve all shaped my research journey. Whether you're in health, design, science, or engineering, there’s space for your voice and your vision here. Complex challenges need creative solutions - and that means collaborating with leaders across disciplines, industries and cultures To me, UTS is not just a university. It’s a partner for a sustainable future.
