## Changes to our admissions approach: The UTS Early Entry Program will not be available for Autumn 2027 intake

UTS is evolving its admissions approach for 2027 making it clearer and fairer for all applicants. We will be retiring the Early Entry Program for undergraduate admissions from Autumn 2027 onwards.

The Early Entry Program was introduced as a direct response to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, offering an alternative pathway for Year 12 students whose studies were significantly impacted. At the time, it provided much-needed flexibility and reassurance during an unprecedented period of uncertainty.

Now, with the pandemic well behind us, the sector is entering a new phase and shifting its focus towards fairer, more transparent and more sustainable ways of increasing access to higher education. There is growing momentum both from schools and government bodies for a review of early entry programs across the higher education landscape.

UTS will continue to welcome applications via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) which, as the main admissions channel for undergraduate entry, manages schemes such the [Schools Recommendation Scheme](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/admissions-entry/entry-schemes/school-recommendation-scheme) that UTS remains committed to supporting. UTS will also continue to direct resources towards the development of pathways and programs that support underrepresented cohorts.

This decision reflects our commitment to aligning with sector-wide developments and ensuring consistency and transparency in our admissions practices. We will continue to offer our various other programs through UAC and our [direct pathway programs](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/admissions-entry/pathways) so that every school leaver with ambitions to study at UTS has the best possible opportunity of securing an offer in 2027 and the years ahead.
