A mindset and skillset for innovation

The Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation (BCII) is a multi-award-winning course that you can combine with 26 core degrees, giving you a real edge when you graduate.

You’ll work with students from across the whole university, stretching the limits of your single degree and building skills that employers everywhere are looking for, including critical thinking, collaboration, problem-solving, and innovation.

The BCII is a degree like no other. Through engaging activities such as hackathons, think tanks, and real-world projects, you’ll learn to think differently and tackle challenges that matter. Along the way, you’ll develop skills for life, make lasting friendships, and create a career path that can take you across industries, disciplines, and continents.

95% of BCII students secure full-time employment within three months of graduating, far higher than their peers with a single degree. You are also likely to earn more in the long run for a strong return on your investment.

These approaches will help you see problems from fresh perspectives and design solutions that make a real impact.

You’ll also develop the skills to be an intrapreneur, someone who drives innovation within an organisation, as well as an entrepreneur or social entrepreneur. Whether you join an existing company or launch your own venture, BCII gives you the tools, frameworks, and experience to lead change and stand out in your chosen field.

BCII (Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation) prepares you to work in what’s called a transdisciplinary environment. And it basically means the coming together of different disciplines to create something new. You have to put aside your differences, trust the others in your group to solve a problem in a really effective way that may not have been done before. We’ve come out of this degree with a viable business model, a strategy to execute, and we've really been able to apply it to a real world scenario. It's the first time where we've been completely self-led in everything that we've done. We’ve learned how to independently follow through the innovation journey.

Course highlights

In the BCII, you’ll start working on real industry, government, and community challenges from your very first subject. With more than 1,200 partners in our innovation network, you’ll have the chance to apply your learning in real-world settings. In the first three years, you’ll build the skills and creative confidence to lead innovative projects across any industry. By your final year, you’ll be managing your own partners, tackling a major organisational challenge, and developing your experience through innovation internships. Many students even begin their careers with one of our partners, turning their ideas and skills into real opportunities before they graduate.

Careers

Your future career

Many future-of-employment reports conclude that all the skills you’ll develop in the BCII are highly valued in all lines of work.

BCII graduates tend to perform better in interviews than average graduates (especially in gruelling team-based challenges).

Career options

Make the most of our industry connections

Students engage in real-world industry projects and self-initiated proposals. Past collaborations include Google, UNICEF, Guzman y Gomez, Commonwealth Bank, and NSW Health. BCII students have also tackled projects for Visa, Accenture, and the City of Sydney, expanding their thinking and enhancing their professional prospects.

Employers tell us the skills our graduates acquire from undertaking a Transdisciplinary Elective sets them apart from the crowd. That’s why we have embedded this program into every undergraduate degree.

All you need to do is choose the Elective that inspires you the most.

Transdisciplinary Electives integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines, allowing you to approach complex problems from a range of perspectives.

By combining methods and insights from various disciplines, transdisciplinary learning often leads to breakthrough ideas and creative innovations that may not be possible within the confines of a single discipline.

If you find yourself rapt by the world of innovation – you can pair your core degree with a Diploma in Innovation, graduating with two qualifications in the same timeframe.

In both instances, you’ll work on a real-world challenge presented by an industry partner organisation – partners who often create career pathways for our graduates.

* Excludes students concurrently enrolled in the Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation.

“The impact that BCII had on me, it changed completely the way that I see the world. And it made me evolve as a person in a professional and personal sense.”

Chelsea Baker

Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation

“I feel that people become caught up in the repetition and monotony of their work, and cannot think innovatively or progress. This is why I love BCII: to be constantly reminded that you must ‘think different’ in order to excel creatively within any field.”
