The Master of Business Analytics (Extension) is a unique transdisciplinary program of study in business analytics.
This course is suitable for students from both business and IT backgrounds looking to upskill and develop the skills required to meet the growth in emerging careers in business analytics.
With subjects drawn from across faculties, the course structure is tailored to fit your background and experience, as well as flexible specialisations to meet new needs and career interests.

What you'll study
This course totals 96 credit points and consists of a combination of core, including foundation streams, and elective subjects.
A unique feature of the Business Analytics program is the inclusion of studios, where you'll apply the technical skills you've developed onto practical projects.
As a student in the Master of Business Analytics (Extension), you'll have the option of completing two specialisations across a wide choice of streams including Business Services Analytics, Data Analytics, Financial Analytics, Marketing, Software Development and Interaction Design stream.

The course may be completed in two years of full-time or four years of part-time study. - ### Admission requirements
To be eligible for admission to this course, applicants must meet the following criteria.
Applicants must have the following:
- Completed Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent, in a related field of study with more than 75% of all subjects completed at pass level (conceded pass not included)
Related fields of study:
Accounting, Banking, Commerce, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Management, Marketing, Project Management or other related field of study (e.g. Engineering) with sufficient background in business, database or computer programming
Applicants who do not meet the criteria above should consider applying for C11280 Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics.
Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.

2026 Indicative tuition fees for domestic students
As a postgraduate student, you'll be responsible for covering your own tuition fees.
2026 Tuition Fee
- Indicative first-year tuition fee: $35,155.00
- Indicative total tuition fee: $71,892.00
You can choose to pay your fees upfront per session, or if you’re eligible, you can defer them using a government FEE-HELP loan. This loan helps you cover all or part of your tuition fees. Keep in mind that applications for this loan are specific to each course.
Additional Costs
Your tuition fees do not include:
- The Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF), which supports student services and activities. If eligible, you can defer this fee using SA-HELP.
- Textbooks, materials, and other course-related costs.
- Any applicable payment processing fees (e.g., credit card surcharges).

- Your actual fees depend on the year you enrol, your study load and the subjects you choose. Some subjects fall into different student contribution bands.

As a recipient of the Australian Government’s Research Training Program (RTP) Fees Offset Scholarship, you do not have to pay tuition fees for up to the maximum period of candidature. However, even with this scholarship, you should expect ongoing costs that aren’t covered, like travel, training, and professional development. These costs can vary for each person, so it’s important to plan accordingly. Additionally, scholarships are available to help with your living expenses.
