What you'll study

You are required to complete 24 credit points, comprising professional engineering (6 credit points), stream (12 credit points), and elective (6 credit points).

This course allows you to embark on postgraduate studies before committing to a masters degree. The course follows an integrated approach to professional practice through professional engineering subjects and subjects relating to a particular stream (major).

This course targets professional engineers seeking to enhance their expertise with the latest industry developments. It provides a flexible pathway to postgraduate studies without immediately requiring you to commit to a master's degree. It offers a unique combination of professional engineering subjects, and subjects tailored to your chosen area of specialisation. You'll acquire advanced knowledge and practical skills transferable to a subsequent master's program, with recognition for completed subjects. Learning occurs through a blend of theoretical and applied modules, accommodating the schedules of working professionals.

This course is offered on a six-month, full-time or one-year, part-time basis.

The course is made up of subjects that provide students with flexibility. Classes are usually held in a standard mode (weekly attendance) or in block mode (attend classes only two or three times during the session per subject). - ### Admission requirements

To be eligible for admission to this course, applicants must meet the following criteria.

Applicants must have one of the following qualifications in Engineering or Computer Science in an area relevant to the proposed major:

For applicants who need to demonstrate professional work experience:

Applicants who wish to study an Engineering discipline different to that studied during their Undergraduate studies should apply for C11238 Graduate Certificate in Engineering Studies. Where there is uncertainty around the relevance of an undergraduate specialisation and the proposed major, applicants are recommended to proceed with their application which will be reviewed by the Faculty of Engineering and IT.

Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.

English language requirements

IELTS Academic: overall 6.5, writing 6.0 TOEFL iBT (0-120): overall 79, writing 21 TOEFL iBT (1-6): overall 4, writing 4.5 UTS College AE5: Pass Pearson PTE: overall 58, writing 50 Cambridge C1A / C2P: overall 176, writing 169 - ### Domestic course fees

As a postgraduate student, you'll be responsible for covering your own tuition fees.

You can choose to pay your fees upfront per session, or if you’re eligible, you can defer them using a government FEE-HELP loan. This loan helps you cover all or part of your tuition fees. Keep in mind that applications for this loan are specific to each course.

Information for Masters by Research students: Government-funded scholarship places available

As a recipient of the Australian Government’s Research Training Program (RTP) Fees Offset Scholarship, you do not have to pay tuition fees for up to the maximum period of candidature. However, even with this scholarship, you should expect ongoing costs that aren’t covered, like travel, training, and professional development. These costs can vary for each person, so it’s important to plan accordingly. Additionally, scholarships are available to help with your living expenses.
