Using your Limited ATAR to apply

Limited ATARs are considered for entry to nearly all UTS courses.

What is a Limited ATAR?

A Limited Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is calculated from your best 5 units of HSC courses completed, rather than the 10 used for the standard ATAR.   \  \ If you didn’t finish high school or get an ATAR, you may consider obtaining a Limited ATAR.

Who is eligible for a Limited ATAR?

From 2025 to be eligible for a Limited ATAR you must meet both of the following conditions:

How is a Limited ATAR calculated?

A Limited ATAR is calculated using scaled marks from ATAR courses and is made up of:

How can I apply using a Limited ATAR?

To apply with a Limited ATAR, you must:

  1. Apply to UAC to receive a Limited ATAR.
  2. Once you’ve received your Limited ATAR, you can apply to UTS through UAC. Visit domestic undergraduate applications for information on how to apply.

What courses do not accept a Limited ATAR application?

A Limited ATAR will not be considered for entry to scholarship and accelerated nursing courses.
