Study Crime Scene Investigation
With a UTS Bachelor of Forensic Science majoring in Crime Scene Investigation, you'll build the advanced scientific and technological skills you need to detect, collect, examine and decipher traces of criminal activity and apply theory to practise in STEM, law, criminal justice and social impact.
This major prepares you to examine complex crime scenes and detect, collect and analyse evidence such as fingermarks, biological traces and impressions. You’ll study specialist subjects like forensic imaging, major scenes and human remains investigation and acquire critical capabilities in chemistry, anatomy, cell biology and more. You’ll learn contemporary CSI technologies, get hands-on experience in cutting-edge crime scene simulations and graduate ready to pursue a career beyond the criminal justice sector.
Crime Scene Investigation is a major within the Bachelor of Forensic Science. During your degree, you'll complete eight core disciplinary subjects, covering vital career-ready topics like forensic imaging, forensic intelligence and criminalistics, and you’ll also undertake a practical research project.
Within your major studies, you’ll build specialised capabilities in key aspects of crime scene investigation, including human remains investigation and advanced forensic imaging. Elective units allow you to experience subjects from across other disciplines. You also have the opportunity to conduct research or professional experience for academic credit. \ \ Part of the UTS Faculty of Science.

Your future career
As a graduate, you can work as a forensic practitioner in a variety of crime scene investigation roles. You’ll be prepared to work in state and federal policing, criminal justice, government and scientific research organisations such as CSIRO, ANSTO, customs and immigration, or with national security and intelligence agencies.
With this degree, you'll have the up-to-date toolkit of technologies and techniques needed by today's forensic professionals. You'll be ready to process crime scenes, collect traces, use critical thinking and conduct scientific analyses to manage crime scene investigations.
