Applying to UTS as an international student
We are so excited that you’re ready to start your journey at the UTS. Moving to a new country to study is a huge, life-changing step, and we’re here to make sure your path to joining us is as smooth and clear as possible.
If you don't identify as an international student looking to study a Bachelor's or Masters degree at UTS, please follow the scenario that best describes you:

Before you apply
As a non-Australian citizen, you can apply for a full coursework degree in two different ways: directly with UTS via the UTS Application Portal (online) or by filling out an application form. Before you begin your application, it is important to know that your application is not an enrolment form, and it does not guarantee admission to UTS until you have received and accepted your offer.
\ In order to ensure your application is processed within a reasonable time, please follow the instructions below and provide all relevant documentation as outlined on this page. Incomplete applications may cause delays and longer processing times. The application processing time for complete applications is normally around one to two weeks.

How do I apply?
Ready to start your application? Here are some helpful steps to apply for undergraduate or postgraduate coursework to UTS as an international student:
- Confirm your eligibility
- Provide relevant documentation
- Pay the application fee
- Submit your application
- Accept your offer
To apply to UTS, you can submit an online application via the UTS Application Portal, or by filling out the undergraduate or postgraduate application form. If you decide to apply online, you will have to create an account. \ \ Hardcopy application forms must be completed using a black pen, with clear printing. You must sign your own application form. Application forms signed by a UTS representative or by proxy will not be processed. \ \ You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and edit the documents:

Step 1: Confirm your eligibility
Your application will be considered for admission to UTS if you:
- meet the academic requirements
- meet the English language requirements
Matriculation is the minimum standard that applicants at UTS must satisfy to study a course. You my be eligible to matriculate due to previous study or work experience – to learn more visit the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) website. \ \ Please also note that some courses have special entry requirements that are not listed here. You should check the relevant course page to ensure you meet all entry requirements. - ### Step 2: Provide relevant documentation
Once you have chosen your preferred course, you will need to provide UTS with verified copies of your academic and English language transcripts (your school grades) and personal statements.
Important rules for your documents
- Ownership: Documents provided to UTS will not be returned.
- Completeness: UTS will only review your application once all documents are received.
- Online Applications: You can upload copies online. UTS accepts scanned copies of documents certified by an authorised officer.
*What documents do you need? *The specific documents you need depend on your chosen course. Common documents include:
- Academic transcripts: Official records of your past grades (must be certified copies).
- English skills: A certified copy of your English test score (like IELTS or TOEFL).
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): A completed application form if you want credit for past studies.
- Work experience: A letter from your employer on official company paper (if required).
- Personal statement: A letter explaining why you want to study this course and why you will succeed.
- Portfolio: For design students, 5–10 pieces of work. Check the UTS Handbook for specific rules. Do not send your only original copy.
- Exclusion details: Information if you were ever asked to leave a previous school.
- Medical support: A doctor’s letter if you have a disability or health condition and need extra help.
What is a "certified copy"? **A certified copy is a photocopy of your original document that has been officially stamped and signed by an authorised person. This person must see your original document to confirm the copy is real. \ \ Simple scans or standard photocopies are not** accepted.
Who can certify my documents?
Outside Australia:
- An Australian Embassy or Consulate
- A UTS Authorised Representative or Education Agent
- A Public Notary
- The university or school that issued the document
Inside Australia:
- A bank manager
- A police officer (Sergeant or higher)
- A Justice of the Peace (JP).
*Documents not in English *If your documents are in another language, you must provide the original language version plus an official English translation.
Who can translate my documents?
- NAATI accredited translators
- A professional translation company in your home country
- The school that issued the document
- A UTS registered student recruitment agent
Important: All translations must have an official seal and the translator's signature. \ - ### Step 3: Pay the application fee
The application fee will be waived if one of the following conditions apply:
- you are a current UTS student
- you are a current UTS College student.
Payment of the application fee can be made in the following ways:
- via our secure payment site – after your payment has been approved, you must print a copy of the tax receipt and submit it together with your application
- cheques and bank drafts – made payable to “University of Technology Sydney”
- Flywire – online applications only.

Step 4: Submit your application
Your application, supporting documents and application fee can be submitted to UTS in a number of different ways.
*Online*If you completed your application online, you will have to provide your original bank cheque/draft to UTS if you choose this method to pay your application fee. The options to provide your original bank cheque/draft are listed below.
*On campus*Submit your documents to the UTS International Student Centre.

*To a UTS recruitment agent*You can submit your application to one of the many student recruitment agents worldwide. These Student Recruitment Agents are more than happy to discuss study options available at UTS, and can assist you in preparing and submitting your application.
*To a UTS representative*Your application can also be submitted directly to a UTS representative at a UTS international event.
*What happens after you submit your application*Upon submission, you will receive a letter acknowledging that UTS has received your application.
The application processing time for all complete coursework applications is normally around one to two weeks and UTS International will advise you in writing whether your application is successful. If your application is incomplete this may delay the processing time.
If you are applying through a pathway, such as UTS College, remember to check for any specific admissions requirements. - ### Step 5: Accept your offer
If you have met all the requirements, you will receive a letter of offer to study at UTS.
You will then need to accept the offer.
