Study Artificial Intelligence at UTS

Artificial Intelligence is the science of designing and developing machines to learn, analyse and problem-solve. From self-driving cars to big data analysis, AI professionals will play a crucial role in shaping the future of technology, healthcare, agriculture, science and more.\  \ This degree is designed to meet the need for specialised industry professionals, helping organisations and society make sense of the abundance of data collected. You will learn to use various AI techniques and tools to support the development of autonomous solutions for applications such as self-driving cars, facial recognition, personalised learning, and voice assistants. \  \ As an Australian student, you have the chance to apply for a Commonwealth Supported Place for this course. What you'll study

With the Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence, you'll learn the skills you need to design, build and evaluate AI solutions for a variety of applications. You'll study how to formulate and scope an AI problem and use state-of-the-art software and tools to validate solutions. \  \ You’ll also examine a broad range of current and emerging areas of AI, such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, image processing, computer vision and natural language processing. You will have a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, information technology, and software development, preparing you to work in a variety of IT roles that may require AI knowledge.  \

Course highlights

Graduates of the Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence will be taught to design, build and evaluate AI solutions for autonomous cars, facial recognition, personalised learning and voice assistants. The course is completed in three years of full-time study. Students may undertake an additional year with the Diploma in Information Technology Professional Practice (C20056). - ### Admission requirements

Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level.

Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.

2026 Indicative tuition fees for government-supported domestic students

All offers for domestic undergraduate students are for Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP).This means the Australian Government contributes to your education costs, and you pay the remaining tuition fees, known as the student contribution. If eligible, you can defer payment through HECS-HELP, or you can choose to pay your fees upfront each session.

Important Information

Inherent requirements are academic and non-academic requirements that are essential for successfully completing a course at UTS. You can find the inherent requirements for your course via the inherent requirements directory. - ### Assumed knowledge

HSC Mathematics Advanced and any two units of English. Mathematics Extension 1 and English Advanced are recommended. - ### Professional recognition

Graduates of the Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence (C10474) delivered on the UTS city campus are eligible to apply for professional-level membership of the Australian Computer Society. - ### Recognition of prior learning

Students who have completed equivalent subjects at a recognised tertiary education institution may be eligible for recognition of prior learning (RPL) if the subjects completed are deemed by the Faculty to be equivalent to subjects in the course. Established agreements for RPL with external tertiary institutions are outlined in the Recognition of prior learning tool.

To be considered for recognition of prior learning, subjects must normally have been completed no more than ten years prior to the commencement of this course. Limits apply to the number of credit points of RPL that can be granted.
