What you’ll study

Flexible and practical, the Bachelor of Business allows you to build essential, job-ready skills with majors in areas like marketing, accounting, human resource management, finance and more. After your first year, you can choose your major, giving you time to consider your options before deciding on your path.

In your Bachelor of Law program, you’ll undertake a variety of core studies, developing your knowledge of the Australian legal system, from contracts to the Constitution. You’ll also have the opportunity to enhance your degree by majoring in Legal Futures and Technology.

  1. First year

You’ll commence your studies by completing a range of core business subjects, establishing your understanding of areas like accounting, economics, marketing and finance. You’ll also study law foundations and examine the role ethics plays in the delivery of justice. 2. #### Second year

This year, you’ll continue honing your legal knowledge, studying contracts, torts, criminal law, and the Australian Constitution. You’ll also enhance your business understanding and learn how companies can work to address social issues and create a better world. 3. #### Third year

Your third year will see you begin your Business major, where you’ll enhance your core competencies with specialised knowledge in your area of choice. You’ll also continue your Law studies, covering commercial, administrative and international law. 4. #### Fourth year

In your fourth year, you’ll develop invaluable insights through your major studies. You’ll learn about equity, trusts and property before advancing your knowledge with your choice of legal theory subject, such as animal law, jurisprudence or gender. 5. #### Fifth year

Finalising your degree, you’ll conclude any remaining core or major subjects. You’ll also get to broaden your knowledge with a variety of Law options or acquire a cutting-edge additional major in Legal Futures and Technology.

This course is designed for those aiming to develop expertise in both business and law, offering a dual skill set that is highly sought after in various professional settings. You have the option to choose your area of specialty through electives, including the forward-thinking Legal Futures and Technology major that prepares you to play a key role in the regulation and management of technology. Successful completion satisfies the academic requirements for admission as a lawyer in NSW.

You will acquire research, critical thinking, and communication competencies essential for effective practice in law and business. Teaching methods include a diverse range of practice-focused learning activities and interactive classes ensuring you develop both knowledge and applicable skills.

Specialist skills are developed through electives and major choices, such as the Legal Futures and Technology major, which is focused on the emerging tools that are shaping the legal profession.

As well as gaining the critical, analytical and evaluative skills required for effective legal and business practice, on completion of this course students also meet the academic requirements for admission to practise law in NSW. - ### Important dates

If you perform highly in your Year 12 subjects, your selection rank may be boosted by the Year 12 subject scheme.

The scheme, which is automatically applied, awards selection rank adjustments to your application based on your marks in subjects that are relevant to the courses you have applied to. - ### ATAR and selection ranks

Your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is a score between 0.00 and 99.95. It shows you how you rank compared to all the students in your year group in New South Wales. A selection rank combines your ATAR with any other adjustment points that make up your overall university entrance score. Your selection rank may differ from university to university, depending on the adjustment points granted to you at each institution. - ### Scholarships and prizes

Employers tell us the skills our graduates acquire from undertaking a Transdisciplinary Elective sets them apart from the crowd. That’s why we have embedded this program into every undergraduate degree.

All you need to do is choose the Elective that inspires you the most.

Transdisciplinary Electives integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines, allowing you to approach complex problems from a range of perspectives.

By combining methods and insights from various disciplines, transdisciplinary learning often leads to breakthrough ideas and creative innovations that may not be possible within the confines of a single discipline.

If you find yourself rapt by the world of innovation – you can pair your core degree with a Diploma in Innovation, graduating with two qualifications in the same timeframe.

In both instances, you’ll work on a real-world challenge presented by an industry partner organisation – partners who often create career pathways for our graduates.

* Excludes students concurrently enrolled in the Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation. - ### Course duration

The course duration is five years of full-time study. The law component requires attendance of 12–15 hours of lectures a week and timetable constraints may require attendance at both daytime and evening classes. - ### Admission requirements

Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level.

Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.

2026 Indicative tuition fees for government-supported domestic students

All offers for domestic undergraduate students are for Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP).This means the Australian Government contributes to your education costs, and you pay the remaining tuition fees, known as the student contribution. If eligible, you can defer payment through HECS-HELP, or you can choose to pay your fees upfront each session.

Proficiency in English and mathematics. - ### Professional recognition

This course satisfies the requirements for admission to the Supreme Court of NSW as a lawyer, provided students complete a practical legal training program, such as the Graduate Certificate in Professional Legal Practice (C11232).
