As a leading research university, MSU is a top destination for students interested in studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Education in STEM at MSU is inquiry-based — meaning students are encouraged to pursue their own interests and make discoveries through hands-on research. A few things that set MSU apart are undergraduate research opportunities, access to top-ranked faculty and world-class facilities.\ \ MSU’s Facility for Rare Isotope Beams is taking shape as the world’s most powerful rare isotope accelerator. And the new STEM Teaching and Learning Facility will house undergraduate teaching laboratories, project laboratories and breakout spaces in a central campus location. Other notable locations include MSU’s planetarium, plant science greenhouses, a newly renovated engineering computer lab, the engineering machine shop, and buildings dedicated to food science, biomedical and physical sciences, chemistry and more.
