Admission to a Doctoral Programme

Your admission in three steps:
1. Application for admission: required documents
- If you have completed your Master's degree at TU Wien, click here.
- If you have completed your Master's degree at another Austrian or international university/university of applied sciences, click here. (Attention: special admission period for third-country nationals!)
2. Pre-registration
If you are new at TU Wien, please set up a guest account in TU Wien Informations-System "TISS", choose your study and complete the pre-registration.
3. Enrolment
Take the required documents with you and come to the Admissions Office in person during the admission period to enrol. If you have obtained your Master's degree at TU Wien you do NOT have to come to the Admission Office again. Admission is carried out online.
Please beware of the deadlines!
TU Wien Doctoral School
At TU Wien, there are also doctoral colleges and special doctoral programmes. These are structured doctoral programmes with a research framework in the interdisciplinary context of top international research. These positions are advertised separately via our job portal and are subject to a different admission procedure. This will be announced as part of your application.

Doctoral Thesis Agreement
If you have been admitted to a Doctoral programme and have confirmation of a supervisor at TU Wien that he/she will supervise you, you must conclude a doctoral thesis agreement with your supervisor. Please contact the dean's office of your faculty for further information.
