# Admission to a Doctoral Programme

## Your admission in three steps:
#### 1. Application for admission: required documents
- If you have completed your Master's degree at TU Wien, click [here](https://www.tuwien.at/en/studies/admission/admission-to-a-doctoral-programme/masters-degree-from-tu-wien).
- If you have completed your Master's degree at another Austrian or international university/university of applied sciences, click [here](https://www.tuwien.at/en/studies/admission/admission-to-a-doctoral-programme/inter-national-masters-degree). (Attention: [special admission period](https://www.tuwien.at/en/studies/admission/academic-calendar#c827927) for [third-country nationals](https://www.oesterreich.gv.at/en/themen/menschen_aus_anderen_staaten/aufenthalt/3/Seite.120221.html)!)
#### 2. Pre-registration
If you are new at TU Wien, please set up a guest account in [TU Wien Informations-System "TISS"](https://tiss.tuwien.ac.at/aufnahme/aufnahmeverfahren), choose your study and complete the pre-registration.
#### 3. Enrolment
Take the required documents with you and come to the Admissions Office in person during the [admission period](https://www.tuwien.at/en/studies/admission/academic-calendar) to enrol. If you have obtained your Master's degree at TU Wien you do **NOT** have to come to the Admission Office again. Admission is carried out online.

## TU Wien Doctoral School
At TU Wien, there are also [doctoral colleges and special doctoral programmes](https://www.tuwien.at/en/research/tuw-doctoral-center/doctoral-colleges). These are [structured doctoral programmes](https://www.tuwien.at/en/research/tuw-doctoral-center) with a research framework in the interdisciplinary context of top international research. These positions are advertised separately via our [job portal](https://jobs.tuwien.ac.at/Jobs?culture=en) and are subject to a different admission procedure. This will be announced as part of your application.

## Doctoral Thesis Agreement
If you have been admitted to a Doctoral programme and have confirmation of a supervisor at TU Wien that he/she will supervise you, you must conclude a doctoral thesis agreement with your supervisor. Please contact the [dean's office of your faculty](https://www.tuwien.at/en/tu-wien/organisation/university-management/deans) for further information.
