Goals and Priorities

The overarching goal of the European Union’s Erasmus+ education program is to foster the educational, professional, and personal development of individuals across Europe through lifelong learning. This includes participants in general and vocational education, youth initiatives, and sports. By doing so, the program supports sustainable economic growth, high-quality employment, social inclusion, innovation, and the promotion of a shared European identity and active citizenship.

Within this broad mission, the 2021–2027 Erasmus+ program generation emphasizes the following key priorities for driving social transformation:

Funding for International Mobility

At RWTH Aachen University, the following funding programs for international experiences are supported through Erasmus+ in higher education:

Erasmus+ Charter for Higher Education

The Erasmus+ Charter for Higher Education serves as the quality framework for RWTH’s participation in European and international academic collaboration under the Erasmus+ program. The charter is a prerequisite for involvement in Erasmus+ learning mobility initiatives. RWTH has been awarded the charter for the 2021–2027 program period. More information is available on the Erasmus+ Charter for Higher Education website.

European Policy Statement

RWTH’s European Policy Statement outlines the university’s official position on higher education within the Erasmus+ framework. It affirms RWTH’s commitment to international collaboration and academic mobility.
