If you already hold a master’s degree – or if you are expected to complete one before the start of the programme you are applying for – your admission to DTU is restricted under the Master’s Degree Rule.
What does the Master’s Degree Rule mean for you?
If you have a master’s degree:
- You can only be admitted if there are vacant places in the programme you apply for.
- This means that you will be placed at the back of the queue compared to applicants who do not already hold a master’s degree.
The Master’s Degree Rule applies to both Danish and foreign master’s degrees.
Possibility of exemption
In special cases, you may apply for an exemption from the Master’s Degree Rule.\ \ You may apply for an exemption if exceptional circumstances prevent you from using your existing master’s degree in the labour market.
How to apply for an exemption
If you wish to apply for an exemption:
- First submit your application for admission.
- Then contact the Master’s Admissions Office as soon as possible at: kandidatopt@adm.dtu.dk
If an exemption is granted, your application will be assessed on equal terms with other qualified applicants.
