# Using European PON Research and Innovation 2014-2020 funding to reduce tuition fees

Action IV.2 ‘Support to families for the payment of tuition fees (reduction and exemption based on individual income)’, of the *PON Ricerca e Innovazione 2014-2020*, as part of the ‘REACT- EU’ initiative, supports **students in situations of economic vulnerability,** guaranteeing access to education and promoting recovery of vulnerable areas. Thanks to the increased resources allocated by the programme, students enrolled in university courses could benefit from a total or partial exemption from the annual fee.
Sapienza has earmarked PON funds to increase tuition fees in the academic years 2021-2022, 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 as follows:

The **total funding for Action IV.2** of the *PON Ricerca e Innovazione 2014-2020*, determined by ministerial decree Mur n. 23599 of 16 December 2024, is **€ 509,633,725.79**.
