*First Horizons* brings together twelve short documentary works by emerging filmmakers from UChicago’s Cinema and Media Studies course, *Documentary Production 1*. From lyrical portraits and archival memories to personal stories and formal experiments, each of these films reflects a distinct voice and approach, collectively offering a vibrant snapshot of documentary practice from young makers. These works are curious, searching, and attentive to the textures of everyday life. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the student filmmakers, inviting audiences into a conversation about their personal approach, creative process, and the storytelling choices behind each film.
