## Application

### Application procedure

In order to apply for an Erasmus degree program at the University of Bonn, you have to complete the following steps:

- Contact the Erasmus+ coordinators at your home university and arrange to be nominated as an Erasmus applicant.
- Once you have received confirmation of your Erasmus study place from your home university, register at the University of Bonn as follows:

1. Read the [instructions for registering in Mobility-Online (PDF)](https://www.uni-bonn.de/en/studying/international-students/exchange-students/erasmus-program/download/registration-guide-to-mo-ka131_sms_incoming_en.pdf)10and then fill out the online form in Mobility-Online carefully and completely.
2. Check the data you have entered, especially your email address.
3. Print out your nomination confirmation in Mobility-Online and have it signed and stamped by the Erasmus coordinators at your home university.
4. Upload the signed nomination confirmation to your Mobility-Online account by the application deadline. This completes your application and your nomination by your home university.

### Application deadlines

**Winter semester: May 1**\
**Summer semester: November 1\**

You will receive further information about your Erasmus stay in Bonn by email from your Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinator and the International Office about four to six weeks after the application deadline mentioned above.

Please note that we can only accept applications and nominations from students at partner universities via our Mobility-Online portal. Please do not send your nomination confirmation or application to the University of Bonn by email.

Countries and universities that are not listed in Mobility-Online will generally not have an Erasmus exchange agreement with the University of Bonn. Rather than entering the name of an ineligible university, please contact the corresponding Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinator if you are in any doubt.

### Participation requirements

1. **Enrollment at a partner university:** You must be enrolled at one of the partner universities of the University of Bonn in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Norway, Switzerland or Turkey.
2. **Nomination by your home university:** You must be officially nominated for the Erasmus+ program by your home university.
3. **Language requirements:** The relevant language requirements must be met. **Bachelor's degree programs:** In many Bachelor's degree programs, a German level of at least B1 is generally required. **Master's degree programs:** In Master's degree programs, an English level of at least B2 is generally required. ## Organization of studies: course selection and Learning Agreement

You will coordinate your courses with the Erasmus coordinator at your home university and with your Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinator in Bonn via the Learning Agreement. As soon as the relevant Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinator at the University of Bonn has chosen you as an Erasmus student, you will receive further information about selecting your courses.

The courses offered at the University of Bonn can be found in the BASIS electronic course catalogue. Further information on courses, modules and ECTS credits is given in the module handbook on the web pages of your department at the University of Bonn and via your Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinator. The Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinator will also issue the Transcript of Records at the end of your time studying in Bonn.

Once you have been admitted to the University of Bonn, you will receive information from the International Office on how to register for the courses.

**Please note that the German courses are an optional addition to your studies and places are limited, meaning that you will not be guaranteed a place in a course.**

## Preparation of your stay

If you have successfully applied for Erasmus studies at the University of Bonn, you will find important information on the following pages and in the instructions that will help you prepare for your stay in Bonn and make your first few days easier. Do not miss the Welcome Days for international students, which will help you get into your studies and life in Bonn.

Students who are impaired in their studies due to a disability or a chronic-somatic, neurodivergent, mental illness and/or a partial performance disorder can find counselling and support from the Representative for Students with Disabilities or Chronic Illnesses.

The Welcome Days offer new international students and doctoral candidates the opportunity to learn about the most important topics such as enrollment, registering with the local authorities and opening a bank account.
