Admission into Qatar University's various Diploma, Master's, and PhD programs is extremely competitive. Admission application requirements and timelines differ by program, so applicants are encouraged to pay careful attention to all requirements for each program. Additionally, applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their admissions application and all required documentation according to the admission timelines. Qatar University will not accept applications after the published application deadline.

College of Arts and Sciences

All programs are available for admission in Fall 2026 except the following programs: Master of Arts in Gulf Studies, Master of Science in Applied Statistics, Master of Science in Environmental Sciences, Graduate Certificate in Environmental Sciences, and Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistics and Graduate Certificate in Corrosion.

PhD in Biological and Environmental Sciences

Program Requirements

All applicants to the PhD degree program in Biological and Environmental Sciences need to satisfy the following minimum criteria to be considered for admission to the program:

  1. Have a Master's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or in a related field with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3 out of 4 or equivalent from a university or college accredited by an international accrediting association or by the Ministry of Higher Education or comparable in that country.
  2. Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission, OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.
  3. An acceptable score on the Graduate Record Examinations Test (GRE-General) is required. The test must be taken within 5 years of the start of the intended semester of admission.
  4. Successfully pass the personal interview with the steering committee.
  5. It is preferred that candidates have an outstanding academic record and a strong motivation for scientific research. Previous research experience and publications are a plus during the admission process; students will be accepted in the desired concentration based on their educational background or major as evidenced by their earned Master and Bachelor degrees.

PhD in Gulf Studies

Program Requirements

All applicants to the PhD in Gulf Studies program who meet the following minimum requirements will be considered for admission to Qatar University:

  1. Successfully completed the two-year QU MA in Gulf Studies with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 OR successfully completed a Master's degree in a related subject from a recognized university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or its equivalent.
  2. Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission, OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.
  3. An acceptable score on the Graduate Record Examinations Test (GRE-General) is required. The test must be taken within 5 years of the start of the intended semester of admission.
  4. A satisfactory performance in the personal interview with the Admission Committee.

Master of Science in Materials Science and Technology

Program Requirements

All applicants to the Master of Science in Materials Science and Technology program who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission to Qatar University:

  1. Completed a Bachelor's degree in science, engineering or related field with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80 out of 4.00 from a university or college accredited by an international accrediting association, or by the Ministry of Higher Education or comparable authority in that country.

Program Requirements

All applicants to the Master of Art in Gulf Studies program who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission to Qatar University:

  1. Completed a Bachelor degree with a grade point average of at least 2.80 out of 4.00, or equivalent, from a university or college accredited by an international accrediting association or by the Ministry of Higher Education or comparable in that country.
  2. Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission, OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.
  3. A satisfactory performance in the personal interview with the Admission committee.

Master of Science in Applied Statistics

Program Requirements

The Master of Science in Applied Statistics is accessible to students with first degrees in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics; statistics; computer science, and Engineering. Students with a degree in a discipline other than statistics may be required to complete Bridging courses.

All applicants to the Master of Science in Applied Statistics program who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission to Qatar University.

  1. Completed a Bachelor level or an equivalent degree or a higher level degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Science, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80 out of 4.00 from a university or college accredited by an international accrediting association, or by the Ministry of Higher Education or comparable authority in that country.
  2. Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission, OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.
  3. A satisfactory performance in the personal interview with the Admissions Committee.
  4. In addition to the above three criteria, admission in the Thesis option of the program is subject to approval by the Program Coordinator and the Associate VP for Graduate Studies.

Graduate Certificate in Corrosion

Program Requirements

All applicants to the Graduate Certificate in Corrosion program who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission to the program:

  1. Completed a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, and Physics from Qatar University or in a related discipline from another comparable institution, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00 or equivalent.
  2. Applicants are expected to be proficient in English. Thus, applicants are required to demonstrate their English proficiency as part of the admission process by satisfying either of the following:
  3. Earned a previous degree from an institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction. OR
  4. Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission.

Graduate Certificate in Environmental Sciences

Program Requirements

All applicants to the Graduate Certificate in Environmental Sciences program who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission to the program:

College of Business and Economics

All programs are available for admission for Fall 2026 except the Master of Science in Finance and Master of Science in Marketing.

PhD in Business Administration

Program Requirements

All applicants to the PhD degree in Business Administration program who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission:

  1. Completed a Master’s degree from a university accredited by an international accrediting association or by the Ministry of Higher Education or equivalent authority in that country with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.
  2. Applicants holding a Master level degree in Business Administration or in a Business related field may be admitted directly into the program. Students holding a Master level degree in a field other than Business Administration or a Business related field may be admitted to the program on a conditional basis and may be required to successfully complete up to 12 credit hours of business foundation courses as determined by the program at the time of admission. Admission to the PhD program will be conditional on getting a minimum grade of B in each of the foundation courses.
  3. An acceptable score on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is required. In some cases, scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) may be substituted. The test must be taken within two (2) years of the start of the intended semester of admission.
  4. Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.
  5. A satisfactory performance in the personal interview.
  6. Successful completion of a written short essay conducted during the personal interview.

Master of Accounting

Program Requirements

All applicants to the Master of Accounting program who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission to Qatar University:

  1. Completed a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business related field from a university or college accredited by an international accrediting association, or by the Ministry of Higher Education or comparable authority in that country with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80 out of 4.00 or equivalent.
  2. Applicants are required to demonstrate their English proficiency as part of the admission process by satisfying either of the following:

Master of Business Administration

Program Requirements

All applicants to the Master of Business Administration program who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission to Qatar University:

  1. Complete a Bachelor’s Degree or a higher from a university or college accredited by an equivalent authority in that country with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.80 on a 4.00 scale.

  2. Applicants are required to demonstrate their English proficiency as part of the admission process by satisfying either of the following:

  3. Earned a previous degree from an institution of higher education in a program where English was the language of instruction.

  4. Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester or admission
  5. A minimum two-year’s work experience is required. Additional experience will be recognized and may help with admission to the program.
  6. A satisfactory performance in the personal interview.
  7. Writing a short essay during the personal interview.

Program Requirements

All applicants to the Master of Science in Marketing program must meet the admission requirement to Master programs as stipulated by the QU Admission Policy as well as the following requirements to be considered for admission to Qatar University:

Completed a Bachelor Degree or a higher-level degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80 out of 4.0 or its equivalent from a higher education institution accredited by an international accrediting association or by the Ministry of Higher Education or equivalent authority in the country where the institution is affiliated.
  2. Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission, OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction. Applicants are encouraged to submit standardized test scores, where available, in support of their application.
  3. A satisfactory performance in a personal interview.
  4. Writing a short essay during the personal interview.

Program Requirements

Master of Science in Business Analytics

Program Requirements

All applicants to the MSBA must meet the admission requirement to the Master programs as stipulated by the QU Admission Policy. In addition to the following requirements:

  1. Completed a Bachelor Degree or a higher-level degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80 out of 4.0 or its equivalent from a higher education institution accredited by an international accrediting association or by the Ministry of Higher Education or equivalent authority in the country where the institution is affiliated.

  2. Applicants are required to demonstrate their English proficiency as part of the admission process by meeting one of the following:

  3. Earned a previous degree from an institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.

  4. Achieved a minimum score of 520 on the paper-based TOEFL, 190 computer- based, or 68 internet-based. Alternatively, the applicant achieved a minimum score of 6 or higher on IELTS Academic test. All these test scores must be within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission.
  5. Applicants to this program should provide evidence of satisfactory quantitative background in business mathematics and statistics; otherwise, if admitted, applicants will be required to pass MATH 221 and STAT 222 or other equivalent quantitative courses with a minimum grade of B.
  6. Demonstrate a satisfactory performance in a personal interview.
  7. Demonstrate a satisfactory performance in writing a short essay during the personal interview.

Master of Arts in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment

Program Requirements

All applicants to the Master of Arts in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment program must meet the admission requirement to Master programs as stipulated by the QU Admission Policy as well as the following requirements to be considered for admission to Qatar University:

  1. Completed a Bachelor Degree or a higher level degree including postgraduate diplomas offered by the College of Education at Qatar University with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80 out of 4.0 or its equivalent from a higher education institution accredited by an international accrediting association or by the Ministry of Higher Education or equivalent authority in the country where the institution is affiliated.

  2. Achieved a minimum score of 5.5 in IELTS (Academic) or 61 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission, OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.

  3. Students with a minimum score of 5 in IELTS (Academic) or 45 in TOEFL iBT may be admitted to the program. Applicants must be enrolled in English for Special Purpose (ESP) course offered by the Foundation Program at Qatar University during their first semester in the Master’s program. Applicants must successfully complete the ESP course with a minimum grade of C prior to taking the Masters courses that are taught in English.

  4. A satisfactory performance in the personal interview.

Program Requirements

All applicants to the Master of Education in Education Leadership program who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission to Qatar University:

  1. Completed a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80 out of 4.00 from a university or college accredited by an international accrediting association or by the Ministry of Higher Education or equivalent in that country.

  2. Achieved a minimum score of 5.5 in IELTS (Academic) or 61 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission, OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.

  3. Students with a minimum score of 5 in IELTS (Academic) or 45 in TOEFL iBT may be admitted to the program. Applicants must be enrolled in English for Special Purpose (ESP) course offered by the Foundation Program at Qatar University during their first semester in the Master’s program.   2. Achieved a minimum score of 5 in IELTS (Academic) or 45 in TOEFL iBT (for applicants to the English Concentration Only).
  3. Successful completion of a discipline-specific content knowledge test.
  4. Personal interview.

PhD in Engineering - Architecture

Program Requirements

All applicants to the PhD in Engineering programs who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission to Qatar University:

  1. Completed a Master’s degree in a related field - GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 for Masters degree work from a university or college accredited by an international accrediting association or by the Ministry of Higher Education or equivalent in that country.
  2. Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission, OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.
  3. Passing an interview with the College's admission panel.

  1. Completed a Bachelor degree in biomedical science, biology, or related fields with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80 out of 4.00.

  2. The minimum GPA requirement might be waived if the applicant passed the Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) exam offered by the Board of Certification (BOC) of the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

  3. Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission, OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.
