# Programs Requirements and Required documents

Admission into Qatar University's various Diploma, Master's, and PhD programs is extremely competitive. Admission application requirements and timelines differ by program, so applicants are encouraged to pay careful attention to all requirements for each program. Additionally, applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their admissions application and all required documentation according to the admission timelines. Qatar University will not accept applications after the published application deadline.

## College of Arts and Sciences

All programs are available for admission in Fall 2026 except the following programs:
*Master of Arts in Gulf Studies, Master of Science in Applied Statistics, Master of Science in Environmental Sciences, Graduate Certificate in Environmental Sciences, and Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistics and Graduate Certificate in Corrosion*.

### [PhD in Biological and Environmental Sciences](#artcollapse0 "PhD in Biological and Environmental Sciences")

#### Program Requirements

All applicants to the PhD degree program in Biological and Environmental Sciences need to satisfy the following minimum criteria to be considered for admission to the program:

1. Have a Master's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or in a related field with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3 out of 4 or equivalent from a university or college accredited by an international accrediting association or by the Ministry of Higher Education or comparable in that country.
2. Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission, OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.
3. An acceptable score on the Graduate Record Examinations Test (GRE-General) is required. The test must be taken within 5 years of the start of the intended semester of admission.
4. Successfully pass the personal interview with the steering committee.
5. It is preferred that candidates have an outstanding academic record and a strong motivation for scientific research. Previous research experience and publications are a plus during the admission process; students will be accepted in the desired concentration based on their educational background or major as evidenced by their earned Master and Bachelor degrees.

### [PhD in Gulf Studies](#artcollapse1 "PhD in Gulf Studies")

#### Program Requirements

All applicants to the PhD in Gulf Studies program who meet the following minimum requirements will be considered for admission to Qatar University:

1. Successfully completed the two-year QU MA in Gulf Studies with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 OR successfully completed a Master's degree in a related subject from a recognized university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or its equivalent.
2. Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission, OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.
3. An acceptable score on the Graduate Record Examinations Test (GRE-General) is required. The test must be taken within 5 years of the start of the intended semester of admission.
4. A satisfactory performance in the personal interview with the Admission Committee.

#### Program Requirements

All applicants to the Master of Arts in Arabic Literature and Language program who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission to Qatar University:

- Completed a Bachelor's Degree in Arts with a concentration in Arabic Language and Literature from Qatar University, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80 out of 4.00 or equivalent from a university or college accredited by an international accrediting association, the Ministry of Higher Education, or another comparable institution in that country.
- For applicants applying to the Comparative Cultural Studies concentration of the Master of Arabic Language program, they are required to achieve a minimum score of 5.5 in IELTS (Academic) or 61 in TOEFL iBT taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.
- A satisfactory performance in a personal interview with the Admission Committee.

### [Master of Science in Applied Statistics](#artcollapse4 "Master of Science in Applied Statistics")

#### Program Requirements

The Master of Science in Applied Statistics is accessible to students with first degrees in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics; statistics; computer science, and Engineering. Students with a degree in a discipline other than statistics may be required to complete Bridging courses.

All applicants to the Master of Science in Applied Statistics program who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission to Qatar University.

1. Completed a Bachelor level or an equivalent degree or a higher level degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Science, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80 out of 4.00 from a university or college accredited by an international accrediting association, or by the Ministry of Higher Education or comparable authority in that country.
2. Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission, OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.
3. A satisfactory performance in the personal interview with the Admissions Committee.
4. In addition to the above three criteria, admission in the Thesis option of the program is subject to approval by the Program Coordinator and the Associate VP for Graduate Studies.

All applicants to the Graduate Certificate in Corrosion program who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission to the program:

Completed a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, and Physics from Qatar University or in a related discipline from another comparable institution, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00 or equivalent.
2. Applicants are expected to be proficient in English. Thus, applicants are required to demonstrate their English proficiency as part of the admission process by satisfying either of the following:
   - Earned a previous degree from an institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.
     *OR*
   - Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission.
3. Satisfactory performance in the personal interview with the Admission committee.

#### Program Requirements

All applicants to the PhD degree in Business Administration program who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission:

1. Completed a Master’s degree from a university accredited by an international accrediting association or by the Ministry of Higher Education or equivalent authority in that country with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.
2. Applicants holding a Master level degree in Business Administration or in a Business related field may be admitted directly into the program. Students holding a Master level degree in a field other than Business Administration or a Business related field may be admitted to the program on a conditional basis and may be required to successfully complete up to 12 credit hours of business foundation courses as determined by the program at the time of admission. Admission to the PhD program will be conditional on getting a minimum grade of B in each of the foundation courses.
3. An acceptable score on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is required. In some cases, scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) may be substituted. The test must be taken within two (2) years of the start of the intended semester of admission.
4. Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission OR earned a previous degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.
5. A satisfactory performance in the personal interview.
6. Successful completion of a written short essay conducted during the personal interview.

All applicants to the Executive Master in Leadership program who meet the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission to the program:

- Completed a Bachelor degree in business or related field from a university or college accredited by an international accrediting association or by the Ministry of Higher Education or comparable in that country. with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00 or equivalent. (This is accordance with Qatar University's unified graduate studies policy pertaining)
- Candidate must be a full-time employee during the period of the program.
- Five years’ experience minimum. (Following the completion of bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification).
- Candidate must provide a statement stating that the employer does not object to joining the program, and confirm the commitment to complete all educational units throughout the program.
- Write a text on a leadership-related topic during the interview.
- Satisfactory performance in the personal interview with the Admission committee.

### Program Requirements

Applicants to the Graduate Certificate in Biomedical Sciences (Advanced Clinical Practice) program with the following minimum criteria will be considered for admission to Qatar University:

1. Completed Bachelor or graduate degree in health sciences majors with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 out of 4.0 or equivalent from an accredited institution of higher education or recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education of the applicant's home country and that of the State of Qatar.
2. Demonstrated English proficiency as part of the admission process by meeting one of the following:

- Earned a previous degree from an institution of higher education in a Program where English was the language of instruction.
- Achieved a minimum score of 6 in IELTS (Academic) or 68 in TOEFL iBT, taken within 2 years of the start of the intended semester of admission.

3. Achieve a satisfactory performance in a personal interview with the admission committee.
