Its 20 faculties and centresare home to approximately 85,000 students from Austria and around the world. With 185 degree programmes, the University offers the most diverse range of studies in Austria. 

Founded in the year 1365, the Alma Mater Rudolphina Vindobonensis celebrated its 650th anniversaryin 2015 with a wide range of festive events. In autumn 2022 the University of Vienna had the pleasure of congratulating the physicist Anton Zeilinger, for many years a professor at the University, after he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics. In international higher education and subject-specific rankings, the University of Vienna ranks in the top four per centof all universities worldwide.
