## Part-time work on campus

As a [Real Living Wage employer](https://www.sussex.ac.uk/broadcast/read/58697), all our student employees, such as our [Connectors](https://student.sussex.ac.uk/experience/connectors) and [Ambassadors](https://student.sussex.ac.uk/experience/ambassadors), receive the living wage.

Some part-time jobs on campus are only advertised at particular times of the year. You can see some of the opportunities for part-time work on campus below.

### Student Connectors

Join our Connector Programme where students and staff work as equal partners, collaborating to improve the student experience at Sussex.

Through co-creation, Connector teams develop careers support, embed technology in learning, design new course modules and more.

### Student Ambassadors

There are a range of Student Ambassador jobs and you can choose a role based on the opportunities that interest you.

You could work across campus open days, Welcome Week, off-campus school and college visits or online events.

### Student mentors

You can offer academic peer-support to students in your School in a one-to-one or group setting. If you are an undergraduate, you will need to have completed one year of study to become a mentor.

Applications normally take place towards the end of the academic year or the start of the new one.\

### Notetaker

You can assist students with notetaking in lecturers, seminars or exams.

### Exam helper

You can help with practical and clinical exams at BSMS.

Main recruitment is usually once a year, but there can be individual vacancies at other times.

### Destinations survey caller

Call recent Sussex graduates to find out what they have been up to since graduation. Recruitment is usually in the spring or summer.

### Phonathon caller

Help raise money for the Sussex fund by calling Sussex alumni. Recruitment is usually twice a year: September/October and December/January.

### Students’ Union jobs

The Students’ Union advertises a wide range of paid roles, including:

- Union Shop, Co-op and bars on campus (recruitment opens in the summer)
- Administration
- Marketing and digital content
- Sports.

Recruitment for the shops and bars on campus is generally held over the summer. Other roles open throughout the year, with many opening at the start of the academic year.

### Library jobs

The Library advertises paid roles, including:

- meet and greeter (usually for the start of term) – welcoming students and helping them to navigate the Library
- library assistant – sorting and archiving returned books
- library project worker – creating reading lists and digitising course readings
- SAGE Undergraduate Scholarships – offering feedback on the Library and promoting its work.

Recruitment is throughout the year but it’s always worth checking for vacancies before the start of term.

### Catering services assistant

Compass recruits for roles in the Sussex Food cafes. Recruitment can be at various points throughout the year.
