Yale College students select from over 80 majors without the restrictions of a core curriculum.

Selecting a major

Yale students enroll in four or five courses each semester to complete a total of thirty-six courses. Every student begins their Yale journey undeclared and has until the end of sophomore year to choose a major. For most students, courses in their major will comprise just one third of their total coursework.

The School of the Environment, Jackson School of Global Affairs, School of Music, and School of Public Health offer Yale College undergraduates the opportunity to complete a master’s degree with just one year of additional study.

4-year bachelor’s and master’s degree programs
