Industry sector studies

At the University of Sydney, we carry out impact studies of specific Australian, sub-national and global industry sectors in terms of a range ofindicators.

Examples for industry sector studies include:

• Impact of new biofuel industries (Malik et al., 2014; Malik et al., 2016; Malik et al., 2015)
• Health care – various (Irwin et al., 2024; Lenzen et al., 2020; Malik et al., 2024; Malik et al., 2018)
• Tourism globally (Lenzen et al., 2018)
• Nitrogen globally (Malik et al., 2022; Oita et al., 2016)
• Triple Bottom Line Accounts for 135 sectors of the Australian economy (funded by the Australian government),
• a comparative impact study of Australian organic and conventional farms,
• backward and forward linkages of Australian industry sectors, and Australian key sectors,
• comparative impact studies of renewable energy technologies,
• a survey of operators in the Australian passenger and freight transport system with regard to energy and greenhouse impacts,
• an embodied-energy framework for the construction industry, in collaboration with the Mobile Architecture & Built Environment Laboratory at Deakin University.
