Recycling of small electrical and electronic items

Starting in January 2026 we will be trailing the use of 30L (pink) caddies/bins to collect small electrical and electronic items for recycling.

This will initially be implemented in the Nancy Rothwell, Engineering B and James Chadwick buildings, but if successful it will be rolled out to all academic buildings where there is a need to collect these types of items as a separate waste stream.

Labs/workshops will be provided with a 30L pink caddy (see image to right of page). When these require emptying the caddy will be collected, emptied and returned by House Services on request. See here for relevant contact details in each building.

Items will be recycled along with other electrical waste collected across campus as per existing processes – see here

Please see the guidance in the “Useful documents” box outlining what can/can’t go into these caddies.

For any additional queries or to request a collection caddy please email simon.atkinson@manchester.ac.uk
