The University of Manchester is one of Britain’s most famous civic universities, with a rich heritage of cutting-edge innovation and enterprise stretching back more than 180 years. Notable graduates include actor Benedict Cumberbatch, and TV physicist Brian Cox.

Alliance Manchester Business School is the largest campus-based business school in the UK. Ranked 2nd in the UK for research power, the School is influential in all areas of business and management. MBS has the “Triple Crown” accreditation from AACSB International, AMBA and EQUIS.

## Full-time study load

60 credits at Manchester is equivalent to 8 UQ units.

## Host university requirements

**GPA**

You will need a minimum cumulative GPA of 5.0 to study at the University of Manchester (AMBS or general)

**Language**

Non-Native English Speakers need to provide proof of language ability, the minimum requirement being IELTS 6.0 overall.

Some faculties [require a higher score](https://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/international/study-abroad-exchange/applications/).

**Study Options**\
You must choose between enrolment at Manchester general or the Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS). Students who are allocated to the AMBS must take all of their courses from within this school. Students allocated to Manchester general cannot choose courses from within the AMBS.

**Semester Restrictions**\
Students wishing to study for a full year must commence their exchange in UQ Semester 2.

**Other Restrictions**\
Students studying at Manchester in UQ's Semester 2 (September–January) will have their provisional (interim) transcripts emailed to the Global Experiences team the following March. Official transcripts will be posted to the Global Experiences team in August for credit transfer purposes. It should be noted that if you go on exchange to Manchester in your final year, it will delay your UQ graduation.

**Note**: Host university eligibility criteria are at the discretion of the host and may change without notice.

## Find courses

Search the [Manchester course catalogue](http://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/international/study-abroad-programmes/study-abroad/course-units/subject-list/).

Business students can search for suitable courses in the [Alliance Manchester Business School course catalogue](https://www.alliancembs.manchester.ac.uk/study/courses-by-topic/).

For AMBS course codes, please be noted of the following:

- Course codes ending with '0' are Full Year courses.
- Course codes ending with '1' are Semester 1 courses.
- Course codes ending with '2' is Semester 2 courses.

Ensure you search for the correct level of courses - see "Additional Academic Information" below for more detail.

Crosscheck the courses you found in the host course catalogue with the [Credit Precedent Database](http://creditprecedents.app.uq.edu.au/) to see if UQ credit has previously been granted. The database should be used as a general guide only. Few courses from each host will be in the database and many course precedents in the database may have expired. Note, the credit precedent database does not replace the host course catalogue. If a course is not listed in the CPD, you can still ask for it to be assessed on your study plan.

If a country's risk level changes to 3 or above, experiences to that country are suspended until the risk level improves.
